Happy 70th birthday to the greatest bass guitarist this planet has ever known- John Alec Entwistle!!!
John may have died before he got old, sadly, but his incredible legacy still shines on. Any time you play a Who song, you can’t help but notice that thunderous bass powering through. It draws you in and you become fascinated by it because it sounds so unique in every song. I think it’s amazing how one man could make a bass guitar sound the way that he did. His techniques were really brilliant; he was so influential to the world of music. If you think otherwise, I highly recommend you go and listen to John’s bass isolated.
The man certainly had magic fingers.
Truthfully, my love, admiration, and respect for this man grows more and more each day. He makes me laugh, he makes me smile, and he even makes me cry sometimes. But he is my favorite musician, and I can’t even describe how much I care about him. Words aren’t enough. It really destroys me that he isn’t here any more, but at least he always will be through the music. So play your Who albums and your John Entwistle solo work albums as loud as you can today for this great man; he may be gone, but he sure ain’t forgotten! Keep on rockin’ on, John. ❤
